WHAT WE BELIEVE

OUR FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS

ABOUT GOD

We believe there is only one God, Creator and Ruler of everything, infinitely perfect,

all powerful, all knowing and eternally

loving and faithful. He is existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit

(The Trinity), each fully God yet personally distinct from one another.

Genesis 1; John 1:1-24:2410:30

ABOUT THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that Scripture, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, is the God exhaled word of God, inspired and inerrant (without error or failure of basic content and meaning in the original manuscripts). The Bible is the full and final authority in all that it teaches on all matters of faith and practice; there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. The Bible’s truth is timeless and speaks to our everyday lives and contains truth to lead men and women into salvation.

2 Timothy 3:15-17

ABOUT THE CHURCH

We believe that all those, anywhere, who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord make up the Church. Through the Church, Christ-followers invest their lives and resources in service, to fulfill the Great Commission of reaching out to those who are far from God and bringing them into a dynamic personal relationship with Jesus. The local congregation of followers of Jesus gather regularly for worship, biblical instruction and discipleship.

 Hebrews 10:23-25

ABOUT FAITH AND PRACTICE

We believe that every Christian who is truly a Christ-follower will strive to live for Christ and not for himself. This is achieved by pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ, following the promptings of the Holy Spirit and studying and obeying God’s Word. We can best observe His greatest commandments, which are to love Him with all your heart, soul and mind and love others and extend grace to them in attitude and in action through good deeds.

ABOUT JESUS

We believe in the divine nature of Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, who became a man to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus was both fully man and fully God. He walked our earth, suffered at the hands of men, was crucified, died, and was buried as a sacrifice for the sins of all people. He did this to restore our relationship with God which is broken by sin.

(Luke 1:2731-35John 14:6;

 John 20:30-31Ephesians 2:4-55:2.)

Jesus rose bodily from the dead in full victory over Satan and sin and ascended into heaven where He now intercedes for the believers before God the Father (Matthew 28:1-10Luke 24:4-7

1 Corinthians 15:3-7Colossians 1:15-22;). We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ to receive His followers into heaven and eternal life. The time of His return is unknown, but may be at any moment. This is the glorious hope of all God’s children.

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that God’s purpose for all people is to have fellowship with Him as a way of life, but all people are disobedient to God’s desires and plans in varying degrees because of their sin. Sin literally separates all people from God and, without accepting the salvation Jesus offers, will end in spiritual death which is the eternal separation from God in hell. People can be united with God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Him alone. Jesus, the living Son of God, gave His life on the cross as a sacrifice for our sin. All who accept and believe in Jesus as the Son of God and in His death for the forgiveness of their personal sins, and desires to have Him as the Leader of their life, is forgiven for every sin. Through this free gift of grace, God establishes a personal relationship with that person and promises eternal life. Those who make a decision to be Christ-followers are baptized and have life in Him and live each day trusting Him.  When they reach the end of their lives, they will be awarded the privilege of spending eternity with Him in heaven.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son. He is present in

the world to make men aware of their

need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, gives every believer spiritual gifts and provides the Christian with power for

living, understanding of spiritual truth,

and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians, we seek to live under His

control daily.

Ephesians 1:13

ABOUT HUMANKIND

We believe that people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship because of sin (disobedience). As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own effort. Right relationship with God cannot be earned through personal goodness or effort, but rather is a result of God’s mercy and grace.

ABOUT MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY

We believe that God intends human life to begin in families and to be blessed through families. According to Scripture, God instituted marriage at the beginning of human history and He intends marriage to be a covenant between one man and one woman for life in all faithfulness and commitment. We believe, that according to Scripture, right sexual union takes place only within the marriage relationship between a man and a woman and is God’s design for human flourishing. All other expressions of sexuality outside of this marriage covenant are condemned as sin. Marriage is designed to honor God and reflect the relationship between Christ and the church and is meant for sexual intimacy, companionship, and the birth and nurture of children.
